No plans to evacuate six Nepalis who couldn't board the plane of Saturday
Kathmandu, February 19
The government has no plans to evacuate six Nepalis who could not board the plane due to medical reasons on Saturday. The government had chartered a Nepali Airlines plane to bring the Nepalis back home from Hubei, an epicenter of coronavirus outbreak.
"No decisions have been made yet to evacuate those Nepalis from Hubei," said Mahendra Shrestha, spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population.
The government had formally initiated the process of evacuating Nepalis from China on February 1 when the Nepali Embassy in Beijing told Nepalis living in Hubei to submit applications if they wished to return home. A total of 185 persons had applied, four later decided to stay back in China while six could not board the plane after they were detected of elevated body temperature.
“We are yet to make decision to evacuate them,” added Shrestha.
