Kathmandu, January 10
Doctors have warned that a large number of tourists visiting the country could bring infectious diseases in Nepal. The doctors therefore have warned the government to take immediate action of prevention of such health problems.
When a large number of tourists visits the country there are high chances that they may also bring in diseases such as influenza, cold fever, yellow fever and similar other infectious diseases, said Dr Anup Bastola, Tropical Medicine Physician Consultant at Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku.
“Tourists visiting Nepal from African countries, China, Sri Lanka when visit Nepal they can bring diseases with them. The management for the provision of the health check up of the tourists should be done in the airport itself. A separate unit must be arranged. As the people in these countries are more affected by influenza, yellow fever, Ebola there is a high risk for entering the virus in Nepal. The government therefore should take precautions for spreading of such diseases, Dr Bastola said.
Also the doctor has said that precaution should be applied by the tourists' guides as some of the tourists too come to Nepal for sex. There is always a risk for sexually transmitted disease.
The people in the country should be aware on sharing hands while welcoming the tourists and using masks, he suggested.
