Bajura, January 4
Two days after a jeep accident in Bajura, post-mortem of the bodies has not yet taken place. Four people have lost their lives in the accident in Bajura's Himali Rural Minicipality. The post mortem could not take place as the Kolti Primary Health Centre lacks doctors to conduct autopsies. Problems have emerged as doctors from the district have not been able to go to the health centre because of the snowfall.
“The process for post-mortem has not yet started even after the bodies were brought Thursday evening," said Janak Bista a local.
Kolti Primary Health Centre is about two days' walk from Martadi, the district headquarters. The health centre has been without a doctor for the past two months.
Four persons — Ramesh Shahi (27), Pawan Bhandari (35), Dinesh Kumar Gharti Magar (33) and Prema Lama (38) died on the spot and others were injured when a jeep heading to Kolti from Dhulachaur in Bajura's Himali Rural Municipality skidded off the road and fell into the Karnali River at Kalapada on Thursday. One person went missing in the accident.
