Patan High Court gives order to release three on bail in kidney scam case

Patan High Court ordered Chief Executive Officer of Nidan Hospital, Pulckowk Bipendra Pradhan including two others involved in illegal kidney transplant be released on a bail. It has also ordered the other two involved in the case be released on general date.
A joint bench of Chief Judge Nahakul Subedi and Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar on Thursday gave an order to release them.
The court has ordered Shankar Lal Lama who had received the kidney be released on a bail of Rs 10 lakhs.
“The hospital’s legal officer Kumud Kumar Bhattarai be released on a bail of Rs nine lakhs and Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Bipendra Pradhan be released on a bail of Rs five lakhs,” states the court order.
The court has ordered the hospital’s General Physician Rajesh Panta and Ram Chandra Ale, section officer of Lalitpur District Office be released on general date.
According to the police, Shankar Lal Lama, 56, of Doramba, Ramechhap, was supposed to receive a kidney from his nephew but on the day of kidney transplantation the patient's family produced a different man. Meanwhile the hospital team had transplanted a kidney from the man.
Later police arrested Pradhan, Bhattarai, Panta, Ale and kidney receiver Lama for their involvement in illegal kidney transplant.
Police had arrested them after receiving a complaint from the person whose kidney was taken out and was transplanted to Lama.
Lalitpur District Court then on November 13 ordered all those accused in the case be sent to judicial custody until final verdict.
Four others who are accused in the case are still are at large.
