Use of e-cigarettes is harmful for lung
Kathmandu, December 16
A study by University of California San Francisco revealed that vaping (using e-cigarettes) is risky for health as it likely develops diseases like asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. The research conducted for three years also claimed that vaping is also a risk factor for disease related to pulmonary.
Other several studies also found that a sudden and severe lung illness from vaping affected over a thousand people in the US, becoming a public health crisis. In a numbers of cases, patients had to be hospitalized, receive medically induced coma breathing machines and other supports.
"What we found is that for e-cigarette users, the odds of developing lung disease increased by about a third, even after controlling for their tobacco use and their clinical and demographic information," senior author Stanton Glantz said in a statement. "We concluded that e-cigarettes are harmful on their own, and the effects are independent of smoking conventional tobacco."
It was also found that lung injury patients experienced a range of symptoms prior to being diagnosed. Severity of symptoms from trouble breathing to lung damage that resembles chemical burns was also found in some cases.
Actually, e-cigarettes were introduced with the aim of reducing smoking, which was proved to be injurious to health but the studies showed that e-cigarettes are also harmful for health.
